A new solution for permanence, available now
In 2025, Verra approved and launched the Durability Pilot, permitting all nature-based (AFOLU) and GCS carbon projects to entirely replace their buffer pool contributions with insurance for any issuance falling between 2026 and 2028.
Instead of contributing 10-30% to the buffer pool, projects can now pay an insurance premium for protection against reversals, unlocking substantial upfront cashflow.
Verra has approved CarbonPool's Reversal Insurance policy wording for use in the Durability Pilot.
